Balancing the dichotomy of my life is a great challenge. I am a clinical pharmacist by day, recommending western medicine and interventions for patients in an intensive care unit. This is what puts bread on the table. I am also a Yoga Alliance registered yoga teacher (RYT) by night, encouraging mindfulness, conscious living, and deeper forward folding. This is what puts passion in my heart and funnels grace into my life. I'm finding that by continuing to learn and explore that I can be
"quietly drawn to the stronger pull of what [I] really love" (Rumi). My analytical, ever-busy, type-A mind finds it difficult to let me be "quietly drawn..."
Yoga was my way of being physically strong and flexible originally, but it gradually became much more. Now I crave the deep belly breathing more than the deep warrior poses and challenge myself to practice yoga in everyday life rather than only on my (red, extra long) mat. Who knew that patience in the check-out line could be cultivated by downward dogs!?!
I am far from perfect. Let me repeat that: I am FAR from perfect, but the ideas of what I should be are more frequently replaced with contentment in what I am.
I became certified to teach yoga to grow in my own practice, and then I became a yoga teacher to share this joy with others. My wish is that each person that seeks a practice finds a style, teacher, etc, that suits him or her. Perhaps I am that teacher for you, perhaps I am not. I hope you find this website helpful, joyful, sometimes funny, and sometimes enlightening. Please share your thoughts and comments! I'm certain that each one of you has something to teach too!
Thank you for visiting! Shine on!
